The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the global network of the United Nations for development. Its mission is to help people improve their own lives and communities by connecting nations with knowledge, resources, and experiences. United Nations Extended Technical Assistance Program (1949) and the United Nations Special Fund (1958). The present form of the UNDP was formally established by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1965.

The UNDP has a presence in 170 countries and territories, providing support to communities to help identify and implement development solutions appropriate to their local context, as well as building national and sub-national capacities to help advance human development and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

UNDP has a long tradition of commitment to accountability and transparency. The Country Offices publish their financial, procurement, and program information on their respective country office web portals annually. An Information Disclosure Policy has also been formulated and published with the intention of articulating the commitment of the UNDP towards providing information on its programs and activities in an accessible manner.

The provided agenda item addresses the issue of urban reconstruction and planning after natural disasters in the Member States. Natural disasters are catastrophic in all Member States. The mission of the UNDP is to help Member States overcome natural disasters as soon as possible and make the affected areas livable once again.
